WHAT IS QIGONG?

Qigong (pronounced chee-gung) is one of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Directly translated, "qi" means energy, and "gong" means to work with, or play with, or cultivate.

Qigong is a gentle holistic health practice that uses simple, mindful, repetitive movements to increase energy,

decrease stress, and improve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.  Qigong can be experienced

as a gentle exercise routine and/or as a moving meditation practice.

Qigong has been around for nearly 5,000 years and is currently practiced by millions of people worldwide.

Easier than yoga and more simple than tai chi (which is one of its derivatives) qigong requires no special

training, clothing, or equipment and is accessible to people of all ages and abilities.  Qigong is said to

"add years to your life and life to your years."

Classes usually last 45 to 60 minutes.  Please dress in loose, comfortable clothing.  Footwear is flat shoes

or barefoot.  It's best to refrain from eating heavily for 1/2 hour prior to class.  Most movements can be done

either standing (traditional) or sitting (for comfort or modification).

WHO AM I?

My name is Victoria (Ria) Pretti.  I'm an Episcopal Priest and former Critical Care Nurse (RN).  I'm also a

Certified Qigong Teacher, educated by Holden Qigong of Santa Cruz, CA.  Currently in my mid-60's, I've just

recently discovered qigong in the last few years of my life.  And I've been absolutely amazed and

delighted to see how much of a difference such a gentle and accessible practice has made in my own

health and well-being.  Since beginning a regular qigong practice, I have less pain and easier movement,

less stress and more energy, less anxiety and more peace of mind ... and, really, who doesn't want all that?

It's my joyful privilege to be able to share this profound and life-changing practice with you.

Try it for yourself and see!
